Forty Carrots at Bloomingdale’s White Plains: A Place That’s Been Part of My Life for Over 25 Years
Some places aren’t just restaurants, they’re memories.
For me, Forty Carrots at Bloomingdale’s in White Plains is exactly that.
I’ve been coming here for over 25 years, long before social media, before blogging was a “thing,” before I ever imagined building Westchester Blogger. Back then, this wasn’t just a lunch stop. it was part of the entire Bloomingdale’s experience.
I still remember when you’d finish your meal and they’d bring out those fresh chocolate-covered mints to go. It felt fancy. Thoughtful. Like they genuinely cared about every detail of your visit.
A True Westchester Classic Since the 1970s
Bloomingdale’s White Plains opened its doors in 1975, and Forty Carrots has been part of the brand’s DNA ever since. The concept was created as a stylish, casual café for shoppers ahead of its time focusing on fresh food, comfort, and their now-iconic frozen yogurt, which still holds its crown as one of the best around.
For decades, this location has been a gathering place:
Lunch dates
Shopping breaks
Mother-daughter afternoons
Holiday traditions
And for me? It was where memories stacked up year after year.
The Day After Christmas Tradition 🎄✨
If you’re from Westchester, you know about the day-after-Christmas Bloomingdale’s sales.
Every year, without fail, I’d come here exhausted, excited, bundled up, shopping bags in hand. This was where I bought all my perfumes. This was where you’d refuel, people-watch, and feel that post-holiday magic buzzing through the store.
It was lively. Packed. Full of energy.
And Forty Carrots was always right there in the middle of it all.
Fast forward to adulthood — and this place still stayed with me.
In fact, I even hosted one of my first Westchester Blogger events here, which feels surreal looking back now. At the time, Westchester Blogger was just starting to grow, and Bloomingdale’s White Plains was one of the first iconic locations to open its doors and support that vision.
That moment mattered.
After COVID: Seeing the Shift & Stepping In
Like many long-standing establishments, COVID changed everything.
Over time, I started noticing something that honestly broke my heart a decline in foot traffic and visibility. Not because the quality dropped (it didn’t), but because habits changed. People stopped browsing. Stopped lingering. Stopped discovering.
As someone who truly loves this place not just as a blogger, but as a lifelong customer I felt a responsibility to help.
So myself and some amazing influencer friends put together a curated event to:
Raise awareness
Drive visibility back to the location
Remind locals why this place matters
This wasn’t about trends.
It was about supporting local, iconic businesses that helped shape our community.
Now I Come Here With My Son 🤍
One of my favorite full-circle moments?
Now I walk in holding my son’s hand.
He orders from the kids’ menu which, by the way, is one of the best kids’ menus in Westchester. Thoughtful options, kid-friendly, and perfect for parents who want a sit-down moment without stress.
Watching him enjoy the same space I grew up loving hits differently.
